Back Pain Treatment in Brentford

Back Pain Treatment in Brentford

Good back pain treatment combines hands on care with exercise and clear advice on what to do between visits. That is how we work at our clinic in neighbouring Isleworth, where chiropractors and physiotherapists treat back pain under one roof for people across Brentford and West London.

If your back has been stiff for weeks, flared up after a long day at a desk, or started sending pain down your leg, you don’t have to wait it out. Same-day or next-day appointments are often available, and we open six days a week, including evenings and weekends.

We are rated 5.0 from 100 reviews and trusted by more than 1,000 patients.

Back Pain Treatment Near Brentford: How We Work

Back pain is pain felt along the spine, most often in the lower back, and it can come from muscles, joints, discs or irritated nerves. Two people can both say “my back hurts” and need completely different treatment.

According to NICE guideline NG59, manual therapy such as spinal manipulation, mobilisation or massage can be considered for low back pain, but only as part of a package that also includes exercise. That shapes how we treat. You won’t get a few spinal adjustments and a goodbye, and you won’t get a photocopied exercise sheet either.

Each session is 15 to 30 minutes with one practitioner giving you their full attention. Between visits, our custom PhysiTrack app lets you message your practitioner, follow your exercises and track your progress, so the work carries on at home.

Types of Back Pain We Treat

These are some of the back problems we treat, and each links to a page with more detail:

You don’t need to know which one describes you before you book. Working that out is the whole point of the first appointment. If you’d like to see everything we cover, our spinal and back conditions page lists it all.

A Chiropractor and Physiotherapist Under One Roof

Many clinics offer one or the other. We offer both, so your treatment isn’t limited by what a single profession happens to do.

Khalil Hussein, our clinic director, is dual qualified as a physiotherapist and chiropractor and specialises in chronic pain and injury rehabilitation. Malaika Hussain is a chiropractor with a focus on women’s health, including pregnancy and postpartum care. Our practitioners are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC).

In practice, that means if your back needs joint work, soft tissue work, rehab exercise or a mix of all three, you get it in one place, from people who talk to each other.

What Happens at Your First Appointment

Your first visit is a 60 minute initial consultation. Here is how it runs:

  1. A full body functional assessment of how you move, your posture, joint function and muscle balance.
  2. A plain English explanation of what we find, with time for your questions.
  3. A clear diagnosis, an estimate of recovery time and the treatment options open to you.
  4. Hands on treatment in the same session, if you’re ready for it.
  5. A plan for between visits, with your exercises set up in PhysiTrack.

We start treatment on day one if you’re happy to. Early, targeted care can ease pain sooner, and you leave knowing what is wrong and what happens next. Later visits are shorter and focused on progress, so you’re never sitting through the same assessment twice.

Back Pain From Desk Work, Commuting and Training

If you work in an office around Brentford’s Golden Mile, or from a spare room at home, you probably know the pattern. You sit for hours, stand up stiff, and by Thursday your lower back is complaining. Add a commute and it builds.

A common pattern is long, unbroken sitting with very little movement, which loads the same tissues again and again. Treatment usually mixes hands on work to settle the sore areas with exercises that make your back more tolerant of sitting, plus small practical changes to your day.

Training is a different story. A tweak while deadlifting, or a flare up after a long run, often needs a plan for returning to your sport rather than just rest. If that sounds familiar, take a look at how we handle sports and overuse injuries.

When Back Pain Needs Urgent Medical Attention

Most back pain settles quickly, though it can be very painful at first. Some symptoms, though, need urgent medical care rather than a clinic appointment.

The NHS advises calling 999 or going to A&E if you have back or leg pain with changes in bladder or bowel control, loss of feeling around the genitals or anus, numbness, tingling or burning in both legs or feet, new weakness in the legs or feet, or chest pain or breathlessness. It advises an urgent GP appointment or a call to NHS 111 if you feel hot, shivery or generally unwell, or if severe pain starts suddenly or gets worse quickly.

If any of that sounds like you, don’t wait for an appointment with us.

How Long Does Back Pain Treatment Take?

It depends on the cause, how long you’ve had it and what you need your back to do. A sore back after a weekend of decorating is a different job from pain you’ve carried for a year.

We won’t quote a number of sessions before we’ve examined you. At your first appointment you’ll get an estimated recovery time and the options for getting there, and we adjust as you respond.

Back Pain Treatment FAQs

Q. Should I see a chiropractor or a physiotherapist for back pain?
Either can help, and the best choice depends on what is causing yours. We have both at the clinic, so your assessment decides the approach rather than the title on the door. Many people end up with a mix of hands on treatment and exercise.

Q. Do I need a GP referral for back pain treatment?
In most cases you can book directly with us online or by phone, with no referral first. If you plan to claim on private medical insurance, check your provider’s requirements beforehand, as some have their own rules.

Q. How quickly can I be seen?
Same day or next day appointments are often available. We open six days a week with evening and weekend slots, so you usually don’t face a long wait for your first visit.

Q. Will treatment hurt?
We explain what we plan to do before we do it, and treatment is adapted to what your assessment shows. Some people notice mild soreness for a day or so after hands on work, which usually settles. If anything worries you during a session, tell us and we’ll change course.

Q. Can you treat back pain during pregnancy?
Yes. We care for back pain in pregnancy and after birth, combining chiropractic care with rehab exercise. Malaika Hussain has a particular focus on women’s health, and it helps to mention you’re pregnant when you book so we can plan your visit.
