Back Pain Treatment Whitton

Back Pain Treatment Whitton

If your back is giving you trouble, our clinic is in neighbouring Isleworth, and people from Whitton come to us for back pain treatment from a chiropractor and physiotherapist working as one team. You don’t need a referral. Same day or next day appointments are often available, and we open six days a week, including evenings and weekends.

We are rated 5.0 from 100 reviews, and more than 1,000 patients have trusted us with their pain and injuries. Below you’ll find what your pain pattern might be telling you, what you can do in the meantime, and what to expect when you come in.

When Your Back Hurts Most: Mornings, Driving, Sitting and Sleeping

Back pain rarely stays the same all day. It tends to turn up at particular moments, and those moments give us useful clues.

Stiffness that is worst when you first get up and eases as you move is a common pattern. NHS trust guidance describes stiffness as one of the biggest factors in mechanical back pain. If the pain builds the longer you sit, or after a long drive, that points us toward how your spine and the tissues around it cope with staying in one position. Pain when you bend to tie a shoe or lift a bag can tell us something different again, and so can trouble finding a comfortable position in bed.

These patterns are clues, not diagnoses. Different problems can look alike, so a proper assessment is what turns a pattern into a plan.

Simple Things That Help Between Appointments

While you wait for your appointment, a few sensible habits can help. NHS trust guidance says most people recover from back pain within about six weeks, and advises against staying in bed too long in the morning. Changing position often and not staying in one position for more than 20 to 30 minutes is also advised.

If you drive, NHS advice is to avoid long stretches at the wheel and to stop, rest and stretch every hour. For sleep, the advice is to use whichever position feels most comfortable, with pillows for support if you need them. A pharmacist can help with pain relief too.

If your pain is getting worse, or hasn’t improved, don’t just wait it out. NHS guidance notes that specific causes become more likely when back pain worsens or hasn’t improved in the first 4 to 6 weeks.

A Chiropractor and Physiotherapist Close to Whitton

Khalil Hussein, our clinic director, is qualified as both a physiotherapist and a chiropractor, and specialises in chronic pain and injury rehabilitation. Malaika Hussain is a chiropractor with a focus on women’s health, including pregnancy and postpartum care. Our practitioners are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and we accept insurance, so ask the team about your provider when you book.

Having both professions here means your plan can combine joint work, soft tissue work and rehab exercise. Follow up sessions last 15 to 30 minutes with one practitioner, and our PhysiTrack app lets you message your practitioner, follow your exercises and track your progress between visits.

Back Pain We Treat

We treat the full range of back problems. Morning stiffness and aching after a long sit often fit mechanical low back pain. Pain, tingling or heaviness running into the leg may point to sciatica or a herniated or bulging disc.

A sharp catch when you twist or lean back can suggest facet joint dysfunction, and pain low down near the pelvis may be sacroiliac joint pain. We also see postural issues. Our spinal and back conditions page covers each in more detail.

What Your First Visit Involves

No referral is needed, so you can book directly, online or by phone. Your first appointment is a 60 minute initial consultation. We start by listening to when your pain bites and what you want to do again, then carry out a full body functional assessment of your movement, posture and joint function.

You’ll get a plain explanation of what we find, an estimate of recovery time and your treatment options. If you’re ready, treatment can begin in the same session, and you leave with exercises set up in PhysiTrack.

When Back Pain Needs Urgent Medical Attention

Some symptoms need emergency care first. The NHS says to call 999 or go to A&E if back or leg pain comes with changes in bladder or bowel control, numbness around the genitals or anus, new weakness in the legs or feet, or numbness, tingling or burning in both legs or feet. Chest pain or breathlessness alongside back pain is also an emergency.

If you feel hot, shivery or generally unwell, or severe pain starts suddenly or quickly gets worse, the NHS advises an urgent GP appointment or a call to 111. If any of this sounds like you, get that help before you see us.

Back Pain Treatment FAQs

Q. Why is my back worst in the morning?
Stiffness after lying still is common, and it often eases once you move. NHS trust guidance names stiffness as a major factor in mechanical back pain. If it’s severe, lasts well into the day or keeps coming back, a proper assessment can work out why.

Q. Is it all right to drive with back pain?
Many people can, with care. NHS advice is to avoid long periods of driving and to rest and stretch every hour. If pain or weakness stops you moving or reacting normally, don’t drive, and get it checked.

Q. What is the best way to sleep with a bad back?
Use whichever position is most comfortable for you, and add pillows for support if they help. If you can’t get comfortable at all, or pain wakes you night after night, book an assessment so we can look at why.

Q. Will I see a chiropractor or a physio?
That depends on what your assessment shows. We have both professions at the clinic, and Khalil Hussein is qualified in both, so your plan follows your back and not a job title. Many people benefit from a mix of hands on care and exercise.

Q. Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with us for physio, chiropractic or rehab sessions. If you plan to claim on private medical insurance, check your provider’s requirements beforehand, as some have their own rules.
