Back Pain Treatment in Feltham

Back Pain Treatment in Feltham

Feltham and our Isleworth clinic are both in the London Borough of Hounslow, and people from Feltham come to us for back pain treatment from a chiropractor and physiotherapist working as one team. You don’t need a referral. Same day or next day appointments are often available, and we open six days a week, including evenings and weekends.

We are rated 5.0 from 100 reviews, and more than 1,000 patients have trusted us with their pain and injuries. Below you’ll find why back pain so often has no single cause, how we work out what is going on in your back, and what to expect when you come in.

Why Your Back Pain May Have No Single Cause

If a previous appointment ended with the words “non specific back pain”, it can sound like a shrug. It isn’t one. NHS guidance for Hounslow says that in most cases the exact cause of back pain can’t be identified, which is known as non specific back pain, and that this type usually gets better quickly. One NHS trust notes that about 80% of people are affected by back pain in their lifetime, and that in most cases there is no serious cause.

Non specific doesn’t mean your pain isn’t real. It means that several small things often work together: stiff joints, tired muscles, a sensitive nerve, or a back that has simply been asked to do more than it was ready for. That is why one label rarely tells the whole story, and why treating a single tissue doesn’t always settle things.

What matters more is understanding how your back moves, where it is overloaded and what keeps it irritated. That is where we start.

How We Work Out What’s Going On

Your first appointment is a 60 minute initial consultation. We begin by listening: how the pain started, what makes it better or worse, and what you want your back to do again. Then we carry out a full body functional assessment, looking at how you move, your posture, how your joints are working and where your muscles are out of balance.

You’ll get a plain explanation of what we find, a clear diagnosis where one can be made, an estimate of recovery time and the options open to you. If anything points to something that needs your GP or a specialist, we’ll tell you and help you get there. If you’re ready, treatment can begin in the same session.

Treating the Pattern, Not Just the Pain

NICE says manual therapy, such as spinal manipulation, mobilisation or massage, can be considered for low back pain, but only as part of a package that also includes exercise. That matches how we work. Joint work and soft tissue work calm the sore areas, and exercise builds a back that copes better with daily life.

Between visits, our PhysiTrack app lets you message your practitioner, follow your exercises and track your progress. Follow up sessions run for 15 to 30 minutes with one practitioner, so we can keep adjusting the plan as you respond.

A Chiropractor and Physiotherapist in the Same Borough

Khalil Hussein, our clinic director, is qualified as both a physiotherapist and a chiropractor, and specialises in chronic pain and injury rehabilitation. Malaika Hussain is a chiropractor with a focus on women’s health, including pregnancy and postpartum care. Our practitioners are registered with the General Chiropractic Council (GCC) and the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and we accept insurance, so ask the team about your provider when you book.

Having both professions here means your plan isn’t limited to one way of working. If joint work, soft tissue work and rehab exercise all have a place, you get them in one clinic, from people who work as a team.

Back Pain We Treat

Which of these sounds most like you? A stiff, sore ache after sitting, lifting or sleeping awkwardly often fits mechanical low back pain. Pain, tingling or heaviness running into the buttock or leg may point to sciatica or a herniated or bulging disc.

A sharp catch when you twist or lean back can suggest facet joint dysfunction, and pain low down near the pelvis may be sacroiliac joint pain. Long standing stiffness can be linked to degenerative disc disease or postural issues. These are clues, not diagnoses. Our spinal and back conditions page covers each in more detail.

When Back Pain Needs Urgent Medical Attention

Most back pain isn’t serious, but some symptoms need emergency care first. The NHS says to call 999 or go to A&E if back or leg pain comes with changes in bladder or bowel control, numbness around the genitals or anus, new weakness in the legs or feet, or numbness, tingling or burning in both legs or feet. Chest pain or breathlessness alongside back pain also needs emergency help.

If you feel hot, shivery or generally unwell, or severe pain starts suddenly or quickly gets worse, the NHS advises an urgent GP appointment or a call to 111. If any of this sounds like you, get that help before you see us.

Back Pain Treatment FAQs

What does “non specific” back pain mean?
It means no single structure can be pinpointed as the cause, which is very common. The NHS notes that this type of back pain usually gets better quickly. It doesn’t mean nothing can be done, and a proper assessment still tells us a lot about how to help.

If there’s no clear cause, can you still help?
Yes. We treat what we find in how you move, which joints are stiff, which muscles are overworked and what keeps the pain going. At your first appointment you’ll get an estimate of recovery time and a plan, though we can’t promise a result before we’ve examined you.

How do I know if my back pain is serious?
Most back pain isn’t, but if you have numbness or weakness, get in touch, and we’ll help or refer you if needed. Emergency symptoms, such as bladder or bowel changes, are listed above and need urgent care.

Do I need a referral?
No. You can book directly with us for physio, chiropractic or rehab sessions.

Do you accept insurance?
Yes, we accept insurance. Some insurers have their own requirements, so check with your provider and ask our team when you book.
